A Message from Our Chair

Physicians in this rewarding field have the unique opportunity to both provide long-term continuous care and perform surgical procedures. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology includes all traditional subspecialties including reproductive endocrinology, gynecologic oncology, maternal-fetal medicine, and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. It also encompasses other key areas such as pediatric and adolescent gynecology, family planning, substance use disorders and care for transgender and nonbinary patients.  

The department is deeply committed to providing the highest quality compassionate care for the people of Richmond and Central Virginia, conducting innovative research and educating the next generation of students and OB/GYN specialists.

Faculty and residents in our department are actively engaged in basic science and clinical research initiatives across myriad disciplines that result in meaningful impacts on patient care and support. We encourage undergraduate, graduate and medical students to pursue their areas of interest and join our efforts.
