From the Residency Program Director
Welcome to the Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program!
As program director, my goal is to empower you with the knowledge, skill, and experience to enable you to provide the best possible care for women and their families every day. We are the experts in educating the next generation of providers to care for patients across the entire spectrum of obstetrics and gynecology. Our strong academic generalist division provides the backbone of the department, and we are proud to have excellent faculty in all sub-specialties. Everyone in the department is dedicated to giving you the very best education possible--from didactics, simulation and research mentorship to hands-on experience with our extensive clinical and surgical training—we prepare you in all ways to launch your own successful career as a competent, skilled and compassionate physician.
As a member of our next cohort, you’ll be following a well-established tradition of excellence in obstetrical and gynecological education. You will join our outstanding group of residents to learn, practice and contribute to this important and exciting specialty in a supportive and collaborative environment. You’ll participate in meaningful research, discuss routine and complex patient care issues in both formal and informal settings, and learn about the latest advancements in diagnosis, treatment and prevention through a variety of educational opportunities.
Perhaps most importantly, you’ll work hand-in-hand with your upper-level residents and our ob-gyn faculty, who will take every opportunity to mentor you as your build a solid foundation in obstetrical and gynecological practice. We have the tools and devotion to fine-tune your skills such that by the time you complete your residency training, you will be a confident physician who is fully prepared to enter independent clinical practice.
Interested in becoming a part of VCU Health’s next cohort of obstetrics and gynecology residents? Ready to find out how you can become part of our team?
